For Parents

Our Mission: Troop 777, through teamwork among the Scouts, adult leaders and parents, actively provides a quality program emphasizing leadership, self-reliance, self-esteem and recognition. We accomplish this with a focus on a meaningful High Adventure program, community involvement and rank advancement.

Annual Health and Medical Record

All scouts must submit this form annually with Parts A, B, and C completed. Parents fill out Parts A and B. A health care provider must fill out Part C.

Part D is only for adults and scouts going to high adventure camps such as Philmont. The PADI section is only for scouts and adults participating in a scuba diving trek or working on the scuba diving merit badge.

Scouts without a form on file with Troop 777 will not be allowed to participate on treks or attend summer camp. This form is also required of any adult participating in any of the Troop's high adventure treks or attending summer camp as an adult leader.

The completed form should be turned into the Troop's registrar. It it highly suggested that you make a copy for your records.

NOTE: The document is located on the BSA website. If you have having problems filling out or printing the file from the website, a suggestion is to save it to your computer, open the file on your computer, fill it out, save it and print it.

Youth Protection Training (YPT)

We need at least one parent in each family to take the BSA's Youth Protection Training (YPT) course as every troop activity requires two YPT trained adults for supervision. YPT takes only 1 hour and is offered as a convenient on-line course at the BSA scouting.org website.

California AB 506 Training

The State of California requires any adult working directly with scouts more than 16 hours a month or 32 hours in a year to complete training in child abuse and neglect reporting, and undergo Live Scan background checks.   It's best to contact a Troop 777 adult leader, such as the Scoutmaster, for guidance.   Background information on the requirements can be found at California Scouting (note: this is training required by the State of California and not by Scouts BSA.  Compliance is state law)

Training for Adults

Training for Adults is offered through the Council. Many courses may be completed on-line while other are offered at various times of the year. An Asst. Scoutmaster would need to take four training programs: YPG, New Leader Essentials (NLE), Boy Scout Leader Specific Training, and Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills. A committee member would take YPG, NLE, and Committee Specific Training. Upon completion of these courses, adults may wear the "Trained" patch on their uniform.

Scout Account

The Scout Account is an individual scout account maintained by Troop 777 for the purpose of holding funds raised by a scout as a result of Troop Fundraising activities.  The funds may be used by the individual scouts for participation in scouting activities, for the purchase of scouting equipment and for other scouting related events and projects.  The funds may also offset costs of participation by family members in scouting activities.
