Parent Guide: Troop Meetings

Troop 777 meets Monday evenings, throughout the year, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church on 890 Balour Drive in Encinitas. The first meeting of each month is a special all hands meeting to conduct troop business for the month. Troop meetings start at 6:50PM (Scouts should arrive at 6:45PM) and end at about 8:20PM. Parents are always welcome to attend.

The Troop Leadership Council (TLC) meets the third Monday of each month. The first twenty minutes of each of these meetings is reserved for each scout to meet with their mentor. The remainder of the meeting is spent planning the activities that will occur for the month's meetings based on the month's theme. The TLC meeting usually meets at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church from 7:00PM until about 8:30PM.

There are Patrol Meetings where each patrol meets individually to work on rank advancement. These patrol meetings may be on a Monday, or they may be on an alternate day as selected by the patrol leader. These meetings might be held at the church or at an off-site location set by the patrol leader. Each patrol may also schedule an outing such as an overnight camp-out.

The Troop also has a number of special meetings throughout the year where parents are specifically invited to attend. Three times a year we meet in special “Courts of Honor” to recognize the achievements of the boys in the Troop. "Calendar Night" is held in October for all Scouts and parents to go over the planned events and outings on the annual troop calendar when it is established. "Summer Camp Information Night" is held in early summer and is required only for those scouts attending a summer camp and their parents. At this meeting, troop leadership reviews camp information and parents turn in outstanding camp paperwork, medicines and spending money for scouts to use while at camp.
