Troop 777 Pacific Crest Trail Advanced Backpack January 11-12

posted Dec 18, 2019, 7:19 PM by Webmaster Troop777
Hello 777 Scouts and Families,

As many of you know, the Pacific Crest Trail starts here at the Mexican border and runs all the way to Canada. The trail can be through-hiked, or done in sections.  This trek will cover the first section of the PCT, from Campo to Lake Morena.  Scouts who complete each of the 8 sections of the PCT in San Diego County are eligible for patch awards from the San Diego Council High Adventure Team. The plan is to hike all the San Diego sections of the PCT (roughly 150 miles) over the coming months, one section at a time. That's a lot of patches!  If this is an achievement that excites you, then the PCT Section 1 trek on January 11-12 is the place to start!  Please note, this is an advanced backpack trip. Participants must have completed at least one beginner backpack trip with the troop and be ready to hike an average of 10 miles a day with pack. This trek is limited to 12 participants, ideally two 5-scout patrols and 4 adults, due to logistics and camping limitations.
The Section 2 hike is tentatively planned for Feb. 15-17. However, participants may commit to one trek at a time.  Please see attached trek form and return to Doug Stinson with payment by January 1. See you on the PCT!
