Camp Whitsett 2013

posted Aug 20, 2013, 1:59 PM by Troop 777 Historian

Troop 777 attended Camp Whitsett for the first time this summer. It’s located in the beautiful Sequoia National Forest about 6 ½ hours north of Encinitas. Calvin Z. and Colby Z. were interviewed on their experiences at the camp. Colby said that each day, he would work on merit badges and do the trail to First Class Program to work on rank advancement. He also said that he enjoyed free time most, visiting the Trading Post and participating in fun activities around the camp like fishing and kayaking. Colby’s favorite day was Friday because that day had more free time than any other day. Calvin’s days were spent going to the shooting range and finishing the Citizenship in the Nation and Citizenship in the World merit badges. His best moment at camp was watching the Aquacade races and sandcastle building contest. Even with all the great activities offered at Camp Whitsett, Calvin said that good old-fashioned card games with other scouts was his favorite activity at camp.
