Wind - I don't care what you say, you cannot accurately guess the wind speed. But, you can get close by using the Beaufort wind scale and observations of your surroundings. The Beaufort wind scale is as follows:

| 13-18 | Moderate | Raises Dust; Small Branches moved |
| 19-24 | Fresh | Small trees sway; wavelets on lakes |
| 25-31 | Strong | Large branches move; whistling heard |
| 32-38 | Near Gale | Whole trees move; difficult to walk |
| 39-46 | Gale | Breaks twigs off trees; difficult to walk |
| 47-54 | Strong Gale | Slight structural damage |
| 55-63 | Storm | Trees uprooted |
| 64-72 | Violent Storm | Widespread Damage |
| 73-82 | Hurricane | Widespread Damage |

Pressure changes - The pressure is dropping or low when:
- Birds fly low
- Smells are more distinct
- Smoke stays close to the ground

VEERING WIND - when the wind changes direction in a clockwise direction. High Pressure (good weather).
BACKING WIND - when the wind changes direction in a counter-clockwise direction. Low pressure (bad weather)

Fronts - WARM - signaled by high wispy cloud that get lower, denser, and darker over the next few days. Rain may last several days.
COLD - Signaled by high cumulus clouds which lower and form layers and thunderheads. after front passes, there is cool clear air.
OCCLUDED - Rain clouds turn into thunderheads.

Temperature - For some reason, we can come pretty close to guessing the temperature when its warm, but not so much in the cold. If there are crickets chirping, count the # of chirps in a minute, subtract 40 (will probably be negative), divide the difference by four, and then add 50 to get the degrees in Fahrenheit.
Chirps - 50 = x/4 = y + 50 = degrees Fahrenheit
