I'm not going to lie to you. The chances of you getting lost in the desert are much higher than the chances of you being found alive. But, you can always beat the odds by knowing what to do. First thing's first, water. There are lots of washes in the desert, go to a bend, and dig down on the outside edge (if you run down the wash the same direction as the water does, it's the side opposite the direction of the bend) for example, if the wash turns to the right, dig on the left side and vise versa. If you get discouraged, just remember, all ground has water in it. It's only a matter of depth to which you dig. Next you need to make a shelter from the sun and cold. That's right, for those of you who haven't been to the desert, it can get below freezing almost every night. For shelter, just build a debris hut. Then you just try to be found.
